Jared Goff Has the Highest Cap Hit of Any NFL Player in 2020 and Everything's Truly Gone Mad

The Los Angeles Rams' offseason has been a mess. With issues of dead cap and the team's poor performance in 2019 looming over their heads, one of the most insane issues is Jared Goff's contract. Somehow, the 25-year-old Super Bowl loser carries the highest cap hit in the entire National Football League:$36 million.

Goff valiantly led the Rams to a Super Bowl in 2018 and lost. Not only that, he seemed overwhelmed during the game. Then in 2019, he threw 22 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. His yards per attempt dropped from 8.4 to 7.4. He led the team to a 9-7 record, and they missed the playoffs. That contract is looking more and more disastrous.

The fact of the matter is that they're paying through the roof for a non-elite QB. Sure, he racked up 4,638 yards, but 22 touchdowns and 16 picks? Come on, dude.

Sure, Goff has a cannon for an arm. However, he showcased last year he wasn't deserving of his monster contract.

Goff struggled in 2019, and what the Rams have done in the offseason is only going to cause further regression (see ya Brandin Cooks). With the Seahawks and 49ers in the NFC West, 2020 is looking like it will be another not-so-great year for those in LA.
