Rams Place Aqib Talib on Injured Reserve Due to Rib Injury
By Michael Luciano
As if the sliding 3-3 Los Angeles Rams needed even more bad news, a veteran presence and starting cornerback might be done for the year.
Defensive back Aqib Talib has been placed on injured reserve due to a nagging rib injury. While Talib could still return before the end of the season, his status is completely up in the air.
The five-time Pro Bowler who starred with Tampa Bay, Denver, and New England before joining the Rams in 2018, is finally starting to show his age, as he's been beaten on numerous deep throws by younger, faster receivers. Talib has a PFF grade of just 51.3 this season.
Talib, who was playing alongside struggling Marcus Peters, will still not be replaced easily. Expect Nickell Robey-Coleman to move to the outside without Talib, while second-round selection, safety Taylor Rapp, and third-round pick, cornerback David Long, see extended snaps for the first time.
Talib may not be the player he was a few years ago, but he's the best man cover corner the Rams have, and they'll certainly feel the sting of losing him.
