Rams WR Cooper Kupp Just Reminded Us What's Actually Important During This Pandemic
By Jerry Trotta

Now that the NFL's first wave of free agency has concluded, the hype surrounding potential contract extensions has taken center stage.
However, the situation is a little different for Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal. Rather than press the issue to sign what is sure to be a healthy extension, Kupp actually couldn't care less about getting a deal done right now.
Amid the coronavirus crisis, the 26-year-old star's only priority lies with keeping his family safe. And that's a welcome bit of insight for these times.
Rams WR Cooper Kupp, on negotiations for a long-term extension: "We haven't done anything yet... it's really not a priority."

(Not a priority, meaning he's focused right now on what's going on with his family, etc., because of the coronavirus situation)
Kupp realizing the insignificance of a new and handsome pay day during these unprecedented times should serve as a prime example for fellow professional athletes that are presently seeking fresh contracts.
The former third-round pick is fully deserving of a lucrative deal, to be fair. In 2019, after a remarkable recovery from a torn ACL suffered the season prior, Kupp posted 94 receptions for 1,161 yards and 10 touchdowns while surrounded by talented playmakers.
In terms of slot receivers, there aren't many better in the entire NFL. But good for him for making it clear that the game really does need to take a back seat for a while.

That's precisely what makes Kupp dismissing the importance of a new contract so inspiring. We can only hope that more athletes follow in his footsteps.
