On Tuesday, the Texas Rangers activated outfield slugger Joey Gallo from the injured list after going down with a left oblique strain earlier in the month.

Gallo will start in center field and bat fifth Tuesday night against the Detroit Tigers.

When Gallo went down, it seemed to spell doom for the Rangers, who were hovering around the .500 mark when their best player landed on the injured list. However, in Gallo's absence, the Rangers went 13-9 and are only one game back of the second Wild Card.

With the way Gallo was busting out this year, he seemed to be a lock for a spot on the AL All-Star roster. Luckily, he made the final cut for AL outfielders, giving him a shot to be voted in by the fans.

In 50 games this season, Gallo has become a more consistent hitter and is slashing .276/.421/.653 with 17 home runs and 41 RBI.
