Rangers Add Ex-Braves Reliever David Carpenter to Roster
By Parker White
On Friday, the Texas Rangers selected the contract of right-handed reliever David Carpenter from Triple-A Nashville. This comes after the Rangers optioned outfielder Zack Granite back to Nashville.
Carpenter, 33, last pitched in the big leagues back in 2015 with the Washington Nationals. The veteran reliever made a name for himself during his two seasons with the Atlanta Braves, particularly in 2013 when he owned a 1.78 ERA over 56 appearances.
After being traded from the Braves to the Yankees and then to the Nationals, Carpenter has been going from organization to organization, trying to get back to the big leagues.
He was released by the Arizona Diamondbacks in March of last year, and then he signed with the Rangers in February. In 15 appearances at Triple-A this season, Carpenter recorded a 1.76 ERA and has 17 strikeouts over 15.1 innings.
