Rangers super-slugger Joey Gallo got his moment front and center this summer, slamming a home run in the All-Star Game, as has always been his destiny.

Unfortunately, he's hit a significant snag shortly thereafter -- Gallo will head to the IL and undergo surgery, nursing a broken hamate bone in his wrist.

The issue developed in recent days, while Gallo's struggles mounted. However, his season on the whole has been nothing short of spectacular, racking up a wRC+ of 146 and leading the Rangers to the thick of Wild Card contention, save for a recent slump (to which his struggles certainly contributed).

Per those involved, the new issue will likely cost Gallo at least a month.

Previously, Gallo had ridden the pine this year to nurse an oblique issue, as many hard-swingers do. In his stead, the team plans to recall Willie Calhoun, who absolutely fumed the last time he was demoted...a week ago.

Maybe another month in the Show will soothe the sulker.
