Rangers Pitcher James Jones Out for Season After Suffering Freak Injury Involving His Son's Toys
By Scott Rogust

The MLB season is on pause for the foreseeable future, but there's surprisingly been a lot of buzz surrounding the sport. However, most of it hasn't exactly been good news, and the Texas Rangers were the latest team to further experience that on Thursday.
According to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, James Jones is out for the entirety of the 2020 season (whenever that may be) after tearing his patellar tendon in his right knee by tripping over one of his son's toys.

Of all the ways to get injured, this has to sting the most.
Jones has been with the Rangers organization since 2015, when they acquired him in a trade with the Seattle Mariners. At the time, Jones was an outfielder, but the Rangers opted to convert him into a pitcher in 2016. However, that didn't go smoothly, as he had to undergo Tommy John surgery, costing him the entire 2017 season.
What an awful turn of events. James Jones tripped on one of his kids' toys and tore the patella tendon in his right knee. He was one of the guys I was really rooting for this season. https://t.co/sXO10tzwJE

After a rocky 2018 campaign, Jones bounced back this past season, during he accumulated a 2-1 record and 2.67 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 64 innings of work across Double-A and Triple-A.
Jones won't be able to build off last year's performance as he once again has to endure grueling rehabilitation over his latest injury.
