Rangers Lineup

After a hot start to the year, the Rangers have struggled out of the All-Star break, losing seven of their last 10 games and falling to fourth place in the AL West. Despite the recent struggles, offseason pickup Lance Lynn (13-6, 3.83 ERA) has continued to shine, tossing six innings and giving up just 1 earned run while striking out 8 in Friday's contest.

Asdrúbal Cabrera gave the team the lead with an RBI single in the fourth, while Willie Calhoun sealed the game in the eighth with his 6th home run of the year.

Adrian Sampson (6-7, 5.19 ERA) gets the start for the Rangers. Sampson has struggled in last seven games, going 1-3 with a 7.43 ERA. He's allowed 22 earned runs over 26.2 innings in that span, but still has an impressive 22 strikeouts against 7 walks.

Athletics Lineup

Oakland's only runs on Friday came thanks to a sacrifice fly from Ramón Laureano in the first and an RBI single from Mark Canha in the third. The second-place Athletics sit eight games behind Houston in the division, but are only a half-game out of an AL Wild Card spot.

While Laureano has been great offensively this year, hitting .282 with 20 home runs, 57 RBI and an .839 OPS, he continued making highlights with his glove and arm on Friday. "Laser" Laureano threw out Shin-Soo Choo trying to advance on a deep fly ball.

Oakland will turn to Homer Bailey (8-7, 5.42 ERA) to try to get the team back to their winning ways. Bailey struggled in his last start on July 22 against the Astros, giving up 9 earned runs in just two innings.
