Rays' Charlie Morton Still Stays in Contact With His Former Mailman in Houston
By Parker White
Right-handed starting pitcher Charlie Morton, who is most certainly in the AL Cy Young conversation, will return to the city of Houston on Tuesday night, but this time as a visiting player with the Tampa Bay Rays.
He won a World Series title there, so as you can imagine, there will be a lot of emotions playing against his former teammates in front of his former home crowd.
Morton was, and still is, considerably connected to the city of Houston. So much, in fact, that he still stays in touch with his former mailman. That sure is one lucky post carrier.
“There was a very real sense of community for how short of a time we were there,” Morton said. “And I got that sense from Houston in general, talking to people around the city — proud Houstonians, proud Texans.”
We hope Morton hooked this mailman up with tickets so he could be in attendance tonight. How great would that be?
