Rays Could Be Getting Back Tyler Glasnow at the Perfect Time

Even with some of their top pitchers out, the Tampa Bay Rays are currently on a six-game winning streak and hold the second AL Wild Card spot. It's unlikely that they'll catch the New York Yankees, but they could solidify themselves as a playoff team with this most recent round of good news.

Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow, who was one of the best pitchers in the game after his first eight starts, has been out since May with a forearm injury and it looked like he could miss the rest of the 2019 season.

However, Glasnow threw from 60 feet today and "everything felt good."

The plan is for Glasnow to throw from 90 feet next week. If everything goes well, does Tampa Bay bring him back by September for the stretch run?

That would be the expectation, as Glasnow was nothing short of elite prior to his injury. While Tampa can continue to rely on openers and Charlie Morton, the loss of Yonny Chirinos only inflates the Rays' need for another healthy arm.

If all goes well with the remainder of his recovery, Glasnow's return could be right in the middle of Tampa's final playoff push.

It's also been reported that reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell had six bone chips removed from his left elbow, and even though he won't be ready to come back until late in the season, he is expected to ramp things up when the swelling goes down.

If Tampa Bay gets Glasnow and Snell back before October, what out for this team.
