Rays Top Pitching Prospect Brent Honeywell is Out for Season After Fracturing Elbow

You can't help but feel bad for this kid.
Tampa Bay Rays top pitching prospect Brent Honeywell underwent Tommy John surgery last year, causing him to miss all of 2018. There was hope he'd make his debut in 2019, but sadly, Honeywell fractured a bone in his elbow while throwing a bullpen session and is out for the remainder of the season.

Honeywell is scheduled to have surgery to repair the fracture on Monday, and while he's under they'll check out how well the TJ surgery went from last April.
The 24-year-old hurler has long been considered one of the best pitching prospects in all of baseball, even after undergoing surgery last year. His latest step in recovery, the scheduled bullpen session down in Port Charlotte, went about as disastrously as it could have, as he's now out for the year.

Not only will Honeywell miss the rest of the 2019 season, but it could also force him to miss a good chunk of the 2020 campaign as well.
Back in 2017, the last time he pitched in a game, Honeywell had a great year between Double-A and Triple-A where he posted a 13-9 record with a 3.49 ERA and had 172 strikeouts over 136.2 innings.
