Kevin Cash is known for his unique managerial style with the Tampa Bay Rays, most notably for starting the opener trend. But on Wednesday night, Cash pulled another wild trick out of his hat.

The Rays held an early 4-1 lead over the Oakland Athletics in the bottom of the third inning of the AL Wild Card Game when Athletics slugger Matt Olson stepped up to the plate to face off against Charlie Morton. In order to prevent him from getting a hit, the Rays did.....this:

Tampa Bay opted against putting a fielder at shortstop or third base, and instead sent an extra man in between first and second, while using four outfielders.

So, how did the strategy work out? Well, the viewing audience never got an answer, as Morton walked Olson.
