5-Star RB Zach Evans Chooses Stunning Destination After Spurning Georgia
By Jerry Trotta
Five-star running back Zach Evans stunned the college football landscape when it was revealed that he wouldn't end up playing for the University of Georgia, where he had previously committed.
Nearly five months later, Evans has found a home, and it is guaranteed to shock the Dawgs. Per reports, the young running back has enrolled at TCU, whose program finished 5-7 last season.
Stand up, Fort Worth!
Not only did Evans sign a financial aid agreement with Texas Christian, but Jeremy Clark of 247Sports is reporting that he also attended an online class on Monday; Horned Frogs fans need not worry about being given the sudden cold shoulder like UGA was.
The No. 16 overall prospect in the 2020 recrutiing cycle, Evans previously signed with the Bulldogs, but was ultimately released from his letter of intent. He was subsequently pursued by schools like Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Ole Miss. TCU wasn't even considered a serious player in the Evans sweepstakes, so to say that Evans' decision is shocking is an understatement.
This is a massive get for head coach Gary Patterson, as Evans will be eligible to play immediately for the Horned Frogs next season. The Texas native was the highest-rated unsigned prospect in the country entering Monday, and he'll aim to help TCU bounce back from a forgettable campaign in 2019.
