Recent Red Sox Comments Could Finally Bring an End to World Series Hangover

After winning 62 percent of their games following a bleak 6-13 start to the season, the Boston Red Sox have plunged right back into the doldrums of mediocrity, and stand at an unimpressive 46-41 and 11 games behind the Yankees for first place in the division.

Luckily for Red Sox fans, the veterans on this team, like utility man Brock Holt, are trying to give this Boston unit the kick in the butt they need to make to to the postseason.

"Cool experience," Holt said, when asked about Boston's games in London, "But those games are games we needed to win against the first-place team. Any time you lose to a team you're chasing, it's not a good feeling. We got to win, and we got to win fast."

"We have a good team, and we have good players on our team," said president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski, "We probably just need to be playing better overall as a team, and we'll see where that takes us."

What's surprising about the Red Sox is how lifeless and defeated they look. The intimidation factor from last year is gone, and hitters are going right after their pitching staff while challenging Mookie Betts and JD Martinez with fastballs right down Broadway they wouldn't have seen last year.

If these Red Sox all played as well as their MLB The Show ratings say they should, Boston should have no issue coasting into the postseason. If they don't heed Dombrowski and Holt's advice, expect this team to remain mired in .500 ball and continue their disappointing 2019 season.
