By Thomas Carannante

While we don't know exactly what's wrong with Chris Sale as the Boston Red Sox continue to consult medical experts and examine various tests, the latest development on his injury woes is good news for the fans in Beantown.
According to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, Sale is NOT expected to undergo Tommy John surgery at this point in time.

"At this point" is something to keep in mind, considering it's possible further wear on Sale's elbow this season could very well trigger him going under the knife. While avoiding the most disastrous news possible is always comforting, there's no telling how much time Sale will miss, or if he'll truly return to form at any point in 2020.
The Red Sox continue to endure a nightmarish offseason, and the monitoring of Sale will be a prominent talking point until he steps back on the mound for a regular season game.

While the Sox dodged a bullet regarding Sale's worst-case scenario, this could very well be an arduous uphill battle.
