Red Sox Announce Dustin Pedroia Underwent Another Knee Procedure
By Michael Luciano
With the latest news surrounding Dustin Pedroia, the possibility of the former MVP ever returning to the diamond is becoming more difficult to envision.
The Boston Red Sox second baseman underwent a join preservation procedure on Tuesday. Injuries have limited the four-time All-Star to only six games this season.
Pedroia has only played in nine games over the last two seasons, going 3-for-31 and looking totally lost at the plate. The last time he was fully healthy was 2017, when he hit .293 with 62 RBI in 105 games.
While the feisty Pedroia doesn't sound ready to call it a career just yet, his constant injuries and the emergence of Michael Chavis at second base means that Father Time might have called game on Pedroia's career.
It's a shame that a great player like Pedroia has to end his career like this. It serves as a painful reminder of how cruel the baseball gods can be every now and again.
