While the MLB Free Agency craze has slowly died down, teams around baseball are still making moves to fill out their rosters with buy-low options. The Boston Red Sox just picked up an infielder who's very familiar with their system.

The Red Sox just re-signed first baseman Mitch Moreland to a one-year deal worth $3 million and a team option for the same amount the following year. Notably, this contract of $3 million is about half of what he made last year.

Moreland started out his career with the Texas Rangers, but once he became a free agent, signed a one year deal with the Red Sox, and hasn't left since.

Moreland only played in 91 games last season, hitting .252 with 19 home runs and 52 RBIs. While these stats may not jump off the page, fans are excited to have Moreland back due to his timely hits in big games.

While Moreland is a solid MLB player, he isn't an organization-changing one. Therefore, this low budget spending on a player with solid power who is already familiar with the organization is a perfect fit for the Red Sox.
