Red Sox Bullpen is Beyond Parody Now and Alex Cora Needs to Do Something
By Michael Luciano

Good news and bad news, Red Sox fans. The good news is your team is hitting once again and the starting pitching has sorted itself out after a bad start. The bad news is the fact that your bullpen is reaching new levels of ineptitude. The latest display of their inability to close games late came on Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox, when Matt Barnes threw away a 7-6 lead and a spectacular comeback as Jose Abreu slammed a two-run home run to make it 8-7.

Cue the Curb Your Enthusiasm music.
With Barnes now firmly in the "unreliable" category, Brandon Workman now remains the lone bastion of competency amidst a sea of mediocrity and abject comedy. When is Alex Cora going to offer anything more than generic coach speak and platitudes about how they're getting close to being good?
Alex Cora knows the Red Sox have had "some hiccups" on their last two homestands.

Yeah, I'd say this counts as a hiccup.
Alex Cora asked if he’s reconsidering the bullpen plan: “We liked the matchup there.”

So you liked the matchup of an underperforming, overworked reliever who has openly said he doesn't agree with how you're managing this bullpen against a guy with 19 home runs and 59 RBI with a man on base? If that's the case, you need to rethink your matchups.
Unless Barnes, Ryan Brasier, and any one of the random Pawtucket Red Sox relievers they've called up suddenly turn into Rob Dibble and the Nasty Boys, Boston is in for a bumpy ride once September and October roll around.
