The Boston Red Sox, in need of pitching depth after LHP David Price went down last night with an injury against the Astros, have called up top prospect Darwinzon Hernandez to the 25-man roster.

Hernandez is now considered one of Boston's top prospects after the call-up of INF Michael Chavis earlier this season. In his time with Double-A Portland before getting the call, he went 1-3 with a 4.65 ERA.
Hernandez did pitch 2+ innings of scoreless relief against the Tigers earlier this month before getting sent back to the minors as a casualty of current Red Sox players returning from injury.

To make room for Hernandez on the 25-man roster, the club optioned RHP Colten Brewer to Triple-A Pawtucket following last night's game.
As for Colten Brewer, he is the roster casualty this time, after his last appearance being a strong one in Houston. Brewer pitched 2+ innings of relief this weekend and will get demoted as a reward for his hard work. On the season, however, Brewer is just 0-2 with a 5.34 ERA in 20 appearances overall.
