Feleipe Franks will have some important career decisions to make in the upcoming year. The Florida Gators quarterback is expected to be an intriguing prospect in the 2020 NFL draft, but now he has another option on the table: baseball.
Franks was drafted by the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday in the 31st round of the MLB draft.
The Red Sox drafted Florida QB Feleipe Franks with the last pick of the 31st round. He did play baseball in HS, but from my understanding never considered playing both at UF

Franks was a star pitcher in high school, but he has not stepped on a diamond since taking his talents to Gainesville in 2016.
He had an impressive football season for Florida in 2018 as a redshirt sophomore, tossing 24 touchdowns on just 6 interceptions and leading the Gators to a 10-3 season and a victory in the Peach Bowl. It seems very unlikely that Franks would bypass his junior season and a shot at an NFL job to enter the Red Sox minor league system.
So let’s make believe Feleipe Franks chose to play baseball for the Red Sox. Who would be the QB against Miami Aug. 24?

Still, the 'Sox felt it was worth a shot to take a chance on the star athlete in the later rounds of the draft. Quarterbacks being drafted by MLB teams has become quite a trend these days, though the NFL tends to win the competition.
We'll see what Feleipe Franks chooses to do; at the very least, it will be an intriguing story to follow leading up to the college football season.
