The Boston Red Sox, losers of six straight games and currently sitting in 3rd place in the AL East and 4.5 games out of the 2nd Wild Card spot in the American League, are fading fast.

After an emotional loss to the New York Yankees in Game 1 of their Saturday doubleheader, the Red Sox held a players only meeting in hopes of righting the ship. In the early game, Chris Sale and Alex Cora were ejected for arguing with the umpire over some questionable strike calls. Heading into Game 2, the Sox know they can ill afford another outburst.

Boston is far too talented to allow emotions to overcome their goal of inching closer to a Wild Card spot. After a sweep at the hands of Tampa Bay, Boston headed to the Bronx as wounded ducks, rather than accepting the challenge of facing their rivals head on, and it shows.

The Red Sox now have 53 losses on the season, just one fewer than their entire 162 game total.

If Boston cannot regain their focus, there are more L's where that came from.
