VIDEO: Red Sox Icon Jerry Remy Shares Positive Update About Current Cancer Treatments
By Adam Weinrib

Among the hundreds upon thousands of ways the coronavirus' spread upended everyday life, most hospitals were forced to halt their regular operations so they could devote full attention to COVID-related triage. That meant that elective surgeries went by the wayside, of course, but many fundamental, time-sensitive treatments were also delayed. Boston Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy experienced this first-hand when his cancer treatments were delayed indefinitely. As the curve hopefully flattens a bit, though, Remy had good news for his fans on the latest episode of NESN's "TC and Jerry Podcast" with cohost Tom Caron.

Yes, Remy's been cleared to head back to the hospital this week and restart his treatments, having only missed two sessions during the coronavirus' peak.
Remy's cancer famously returned, fiercely, in late 2018, when a series of intensive radiation treatments had him considering his own mortality. Now, the Rem Dawg's in a more stable place, and can hopefully get back to normal in the weeks to come.
