Red Sox Legend David Ortiz Posts Positive Update on Instagram After Returning Home From Hospital

The baseball world was given quite the scare last month, learning in a late-night daze that Boston icon David Ortiz had been the victim of an apparent assassination attempt. Since then, we've received varied updates on the Red Sox legend's status, and he's been making steady progress in his recovery.

Now it looks as if Big Papi is back home and getting slowly back into his normal routine. In his latest Instagram post, his first since his Saturday release from the hospital, Ortiz let us all know that he's returned to his post working the grill, whipping up some delicious barbecue for his family.

While Ortiz can't "crush" food yet, he's still serving up some awesome looking dishes as he celebrates his improved health with those close to him.

Papi received constant support and well wishes from the baseball world while he was undergoing treatment, and he thanked all those who had been offering him their prayers.

Still, Ortiz will be subject to rehabilitation at home, and will have doctors monitoring his health to ensure he continues to progress.

It's awesome to see him getting back to everyday life after what was a terribly frightening incident in his home country of the Dominican Republic.
