Red Sox Provide Injury Update on Nathan Eovaldi
By Max Scoli

Boston Red Sox pitcher Nathan Eovaldi was placed on the 10-day injured list on April 20th before promptly undergoing an arthroscopic procedure to remove loose bodies from his right elbow.
Despite being out over a month, he continues to make progress as the veteran nears his return.

According to Boston Manager Alex Cora, Eovaldi is expected to throw a simulated game, his first since the surgery, on Thursday or Friday at Yankee Stadium. He added that the organization will determine his rehab assignment after evaluating the simulated game.
Cora:

- game will start on time
- day off for Benintendi
- Eovaldi will throw simulated game Thursday or Friday (depending on how late team gets in tomorrow)
- Johnson will likely need 2 or 3 more rehab starts.
This is good news for the former MLB World Series Champion, who hasn't thrown since a bullpen session on May 25th. However, Cora warns Red Sox fans and supporters that a simulated game and his rehab will be two completely different animals:
“It’s one thing to throw simulated games here and then compete at this level,” Cora said. “The other stuff plays: the fans, the adrenaline, the leverage situations and winning comes into play. We’ll talk about it.”

* Eovaldi sim game Thursday or Friday. He may be only 10-12 days away from being activated.
* Weber starts tomorrow.
* Johnson needs two more rehab starts.
* Moreland still out with the knee bruise from Saturday.
* Day off for Benintendi.
Eovaldi had a rough start to his 2019 campaign before hitting the IL. In just four starts this season, the veteran right-hander has allowed 14 earned runs, 21 hits, and six home runs in just 21 innings pitched.
There is no doubt that the 29-year-old starter is eager to get back on the diamond to lower his 6.00 ERA.
