Red Sox Release Lineup for Unofficial Spring Training Opener vs Northeastern
By Adam Weinrib
Rejoice, Red Sox Nation! There is actual baseball today in some capacity!!
Your Sox are set to face off with the Northeastern Huskies in the first organized exhibition contest of spring camp, and before they can come away with the victory, the lineup card has to be finalized and set in stone.
If you're attending today's game at The Fort, you'll be seeing a few of Boston's top prospects penciled into the order.
All eyes should be on Jarren Duran, CJ Chatham, and Connor Wong.
Duran placed himself on the map in 2019 by destructing the Single-A Sally League, hitting at a remarkable .387 clip, slapping singles all over the field. Though he was extinguished a bit after a promotion to Double-A Portland, Boston eyes are still firmly on him for '20. Chatham, a 25-year-old shortstop, reached Triple-A last season, hitting .302 in 20 games at the level. Wong, of course, is the slugging catcher who was just obtained in the monstrous Mookie Betts/David Price deal.
Friday's game will also be played in honor of legendary Sox scribe Nick Cafardo, who passed away a year ago Friday.
We're sure Nick is presiding over this rite of spring in some capacity.
