Red Sox Reportedly Mulling Offers From Dodgers and Padres in Potential Mookie Betts Trade
The Mookie Betts trade rumors have continued steadily throughout the offseason and they aren't slowing down as Spring Training nears.
The Boston Red Sox appear dead set on moving the young superstar and the latest report from Alex Speier of the Boston Globe suggests the team is weighing offers from both the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres.
The Padres rumors gained steam throughout the past week as news surfaced that San Diego may be looking to move Wil Myers' contract in a potential Betts trade.
The Dodgers rumors, meanwhile, have been around for the duration of the offseason.
Both deals would see the Red Sox acquire a mix of prospects (of which both club's have some of the best in baseball) and already proven talents.
The Red Sox are also reportedly hoping to include David Price and his giant contract in any Betts trade, so the team could lose a bit of leverage when it comes to top prospects if the Dodgers or Padres were to take on such significant contracts.
The sticking point with the Dodgers may be whether or not the team is willing to trade Gavin Lux to Boston, which seems highly unlikely. That's not to say, however, that there aren't other intriguing options within LA's farm.
All sides involved seem motivated to work out a deal, but as of now nothing seems imminent.
