Red Sox Uniforms May Change With MLB's Nike Partnership

The Boston Red Sox have some of the more traditional uniforms in all of professionals sports. That has worked to the team's benefit, as the franchise has successfully avoided any controversy over major changes to the uniform in recent years.
But might that change, even in the slightest?
Nike has joined up with MLB to provide teams with new jerseys starting in 2020, and this may have caused some concern among Red Sox fans from the start. However (deep breaths, Red Sox fans), the changes are expected to be minimal, if any, mainly related to functionality.
The Red Sox’ uniforms might have been criminally underrated by The Athletic’s resident ne’er-do-well @MarcCarig, but the team’s look has been meticulously crafted and carefully considered by generations of fans and executives. https://t.co/xUaWKJdXjL

Yes, the changes would basically be improvements in Red Sox players' physical well-being, helping them move and breathe easier. Don't expect a monster overhaul of the look.
Per sources, any changes made would mirror those that came when Under Armour provided new uniforms for Notre Dame, in a recent example of a uniform maker known for major overhauls taking a crack at tradition. The main changes were a sleeker look and a new logo patch, and we haven't heard many complaints...well, except for surrounding some Yankees-esque alts that would never be a Boston problem, anyway.

The Nike swoosh being on the jersey shouldn't cause any outrage among fans. A bit of a cleaner look or a more tight-fitting uniform would simply go along with the current trend in the league. This allows the partnership with Nike to go on without enraging fans and taking away the traditional look from a team that still plays in a park that opened in 1912.
