Red Sox Lineup
Mookie Betts will remain at the top of the lineup, with Andrew Benintendi and J.D. Martinez rounding out a dangerous top third of the order. Red-hot Rafael Devers is moving into the cleanup spot, while Xander Bogaerts is now batting fifth.
Pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez (5-3) will get the start and look to build on his last outing, where he pitched six innings of one run ball with five strikeouts against the Houston Astros. Rodriguez's ERA currently sits at an inflated 5.04, but is pitching much better than that number lets on, as he has a 3.61 FIP.
Royals Lineup
On the side for the Royals, they enter this game on a three-game losing streak. Whit Merrifield will lead off on Tuesday night, with Nicky Lopez and Adalberto Mondesi backing him up. Alex Gordon is the cleanup hitter with Jorge Soler waiting his turn, batting fifth in the order. With Hunter Dozier on the injured list, the Royals called up Kelvin Gutierrez, who will start in his place and hit seventh.
On the hill for the Royals to star the game is Glenn Sparkman. He's logged a 4.21 ERA on the year, striking out 17 batters across 25.2 innings pitched. He's made two starts, including one which lasted seven innings, but has otherwise not logged more than three innings pitched in an appearance.
Sparkman drew a start last week after taking Jorge Lopez's spot in the rotation, but didn't leave a good first impression. He allowed four earned runs and completed just one inning before getting ejected for beaning Tim Anderson.
