Red Sox Lineup
Boston will go with several lineup changes heading into Sunday’s tilt with the Tigers. Xander Bogaerts will take over at shortstop before he heads to Cleveland for the MLB All-Star Game. Christian Vázquez returns at catcher, replacing Saturday’s starter Sandy León, as J.D. Martinez mans the DH spot.
David Price is back on the mound for the Red Sox, making his first start since a 10-6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays back on July 2. Price went six innings in Toronto, with seven strikeouts and a season-high four walks. He’ll go for his third consecutive win and seventh on the season Sunday in Detroit.
Tigers Lineup
The Tigers have lined up four infield changes for Sunday’s game. Brandon Dixon takes over first, Niko Goodrum moves from shortstop to second base, Jordy Mercer steps in at shortstop, and John Hicks returns to catch after a one-game break.
Detroit southpaw Gregory Soto will go head-to-head with Price, looking to drastically improve on his numbers this season. He last appeared in relief for one inning during Friday’s series opener with the Red Sox.
With a brutal 8.06 ERA on the season, Soto will also go for his first victory of the year on Sunday.
