Red Sox Would Rather Trade David Price Than Mookie Betts in Most Obvious MLB Insider Report Ever

David Price is 34 years old. Mookie Betts is 27. David Price makes $31 million a year. Mookie Betts makes $20 million. David Price had a WAR rating in 2019 of 1.9. Mookie Betts: 6.8
So it should come as no surprise that the Red Sox would rather dump Price than Betts. Both have been in continuos trade talks around the MLB for months, with the Red Sox looking to move several players for financial reasons. They've had no trouble in shopping the latter, and aren't entirely eager to let him go. For the former, the story is quite the opposite, and they've had trouble finding teams willing to take the aging former All-Star.
The #Redsox would prefer dealing David Price instead of Mookie Betts to clear payroll, but are all ears to get below the $208 million luxury tax.

Price's production of late has been nowhere close to what the Red Sox hoped it would be when they signed him to a seven-year, $217 million deal back in December of 2015 -- at the time the richest contract for a pitcher in league history. He did play a key role in their World Series' title run, throwing huge pitches in both starting and relief roles in vaulting them to the Commissioner's Trophy, which also netted him that year's AL Comeback Player of the Year.
Aside from that, though, injury and age have marred his time in Boston. He began having troubles with elbow inflammation after posting a 17-9 record in his first season with the Sox, starting just nine games in year two. 2018 was a definite bounce-back year, but 2019 saw another downhill trend, as he went 7-5 with a 4.28 ERA, posting his lowest strikeout numbers for a full season since last decade.
White Sox reportedly "in play" for David Price, but how much sense would a trade make? https://t.co/pwBxfa7J1n

Price's hefty contract salary makes teams weary of trading for him, but he does have some squads which are interested.
