Brock Holt's chances of returning to Boston seem slim, and it looks like a new club has emerged as favorites to sign the veteran utility-man.

Holt is still looking for work in free agency and Chris Cotillo reports that the Cincinnati Reds have emerged as favorites to land the 31-year-old.

Holt would be a great addition to a Cincinnati roster trying to push for the postseason.

After spending seven seasons with the Red Sox, Holt hit free agency this offseason. Boston quickly scooped up Jose Peraza as a replacement, which all but ruled out the possibility of a return to Beantown for Holt.

In 2019, Holt featured in 87 games. He slashed .297/.369/.402 with three homers and 31 RBI, serviceable numbers for a role player.

After a disappointing 2019 campaign the Reds look to bounce back in a big way this season, and acquiring Holt would further boost a lineup which features the likes of Eugenio Suarez, Joey Votto, Mike Moustakas and Nick Senzel.

Across his eight-year career, Holt has made one All-Star team and won the World Series with the Red Sox in 2018.
