Reds Reportedly Sign Wade Miley to 2-Year Deal

The Cincinnati Reds started the offseason with a bang by signing Mike Moustakas.
That move signaled a desire to move up their timeline for competing in the NL Central. On Monday night, the Reds made yet another transaction, but this time aiding an already-strong rotation.

Miley made 33 starts for the Houston Astros in 2019, going 14-6 with a 3.98 ERA in 167.1 innings of work.
Miley is a bit of a journeyman and the Reds will be his seventh team and third in three years.
The Reds now have a rotation featuring Miley, Luis Castillo, Trevor Bauer, Sonny Gray and Anthony DeSclafani to complement a lineup featuring Votto and Moustakas. This team doesn't scream title contender right now, but the right pieces are being put in place to pair veterans with a nice young core of talent.

Miley is not the ace of any staff and may be the fourth or fifth starter. But going out and signing a veteran presence like Miley shows how the Reds want to advance past the stage of rebuilding with young talent.
