Reds Sign Veteran Reliever David Carpenter

The Cincinnati Reds appear to be looking to win in 2020 after the mid-season addition of Trevor Bauer and the offseason signing of Mike Moustakas.
The team reportedly added another player Friday night, making a move to fortify the bullpen by acquiring veteran right-hander David Carpenter.

David Carpenter appeared in only four games as a member of the Texas Rangers in 2019. He has played for six teams since 2011 and did not make a MLB appearance from 2016-2018 as he struggled to get promoted from the minor leagues as a member of several organizations.
The move is interesting as well considering the Reds hired Kyle Boddy of Driveline Baseball this offseason. Carpenter frequently worked out with Boddy in his quest to return to the bigs.
I’m beyond thankful for the opportunity @Reds have given me! I wouldn’t be in this position without the hard work of @Berticushill this off-season and the help of @DrivelineBB @drivelinebases @HerbieGood The 2020 season can’t get here soon enough!! #LetsGo

The reliever's best years came with the Atlanta Braves in 2013 and 2014 when he posted a combined 2.63 ERA in 121 total appearances. The Reds are hoping to get that player in 2020.
Four appearances in 2019 was obviously nothing to get Reds fans excited. But it showed Carpenter had finally made his MLB return and the Reds may be getting a steal this offseason.
