This Redskins-Browns Trade Involving Trent Williams Could Actually Work
By Jerry Trotta

News finally broke on Thursday confirming the Washington Redskins would grant permission to left tackle Trent Williams to seek a trade.
Williams, 31, figures to have a significant market, and it's widely expected that the Cleveland Browns will be one of the teams to inquire about the seven-time Pro Bowler. The Browns are likely a destination that would appeal to Williams as the team's new offensive line coach, Bill Callahan, mentored him in Washington for three seasons.
With that in mind, let's dive into a potential trade package that Cleveland could offer that would entice the Redskins.

Trent Williams Contract
Williams is entering the final year of a five-year, $68 million contract he signed with the Redskins, and he is due to make $12.5 million in 2020. Of course, the former No. 4 overall pick will promptly command a blockbuster extension upon arriving in Cleveland.
Assuming Williams will want to be paid alongside the NFL's elite left tackles, the Browns will likely have to cough up approximately $16 million annually. Cleveland presently has a little more than $60 million in cap space, and it could very well have more if certain decisions are made in the offseason.
Offloading defensive end Olivier Vernon, the team's highest-paid player, alongside its 2020 second-round draft pick (No. 41 overall) could be enough to persuade Washington. The Redskins, however, would surely discuss acquiring the Browns' No. 10 overall pick, which Cleveland is undoubtedly planning to use on an offensive lineman.

That would obviously take Vernon off the table.
In a vacuum, the Browns could make Vernon and this year's second-rounder work, OR the organization could make things as simple as offloading its coveted No. 10 overall pick.
Either way, Cleveland has options.
