This Redskins-Buccaneers Trade Involving Trent Williams and OJ Howard is the Perfect Deal

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers already had a strong tight end group with Cameron Brate and OJ Howard on the roster, but they just gave their offense a major shot in the arm when they lured former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski out of retirement.

With Brate in the middle of a long contract, Howard is the more likely of the two tight ends to get traded to make room for Gronk.

One potential landing spot is the Washington Redskins, who could send offensive tackle Trent Williams to the Buccaneers in exchange for Howard. Why not?

Howard and Williams trading spaces is a win-win for both parties. Tampa Bay is in need of a tackle to keep the immobile Tom Brady upright, and Williams comes with seven Pro Bowls in tow. He would instantly supplant Donovan Smith as the team's starting left tackle.

Howard, meanwhile, could finally end up as the featured player in a passing attack. Not only will he be going to a second-year quarterback in Dwayne Haskins who needs more quality pass catchers, but he will be joining a Redskins team that just cut Jordan Reed and is being overseen by a head coach in Ron Rivera who likes the tight end to feature heavily in his passing game.

While the Redskins continue to help Haskins get better and better, Williams would help a Super Bowl contender in Tampa Bay fix their biggest issue on the offensive line. Jason Licht needs to get on the phone and make this deal happen as soon as possible.
