Redskins RB Derrius Guice Calls Out Packers' Darnell Savage for 'Cheap Shot' in Since-Deleted Tweet
Derrius Guice missed his entire rookie season with the Washington Redskins after suffering a knee injury. He has played in only five games in 2019, but was off to a nice start against the Green Bay Packers in Week 14 in following up a huge game vs the Carolina Panthers.
Then came a low tackle from Darnell Savage that ultimately took Guice out of the game with another knee injury. The young running back expressed his anger with the tackle on Twitter, calling Savage out for a "cheap shot."
Savage will argue it was a clean tackle to take down a strong runner. Guice thinks it was a dirty hit. Which one was it?
The tackle was within the rules but just so happened to be a low hit on a player with a history of knee injuries. Perhap Guice realized that, which made him re-think his tweet.
Guice is out for Week 15 and the team may just shut him down given their current 3-10 record.
There's no real way for a running back to avoid low hits. Unfortunately for Guice, he happens to have a history of knee injuries, so this is a combination that's bound to frustrate him for quite some time.
