Redskins Reportedly Signing 3-Time Pro Bowl OT Donald Penn
By Sam Dunn

The Washington Redskins are leaving absolutely nothing up to chance while lineman Trent Williams holds out for more money.
Just days after signing some insurance in the form of Corey Robinson, NFL insider Ian Rapoport writes that veteran tackle Donald Penn is on his way to the nation's capital to sign on the dotted line.
Veteran offensive tackle Donald Penn is flying to Washington DC today to sign a 1-year deal with the #Redskins tomorrow, sources say. Key veteran help given Trent Williams’ likely lengthy holdout.

The best thing about this report? It strongly suggests that Jay Gruden and Co. quickly came to their senses when they realized what it might mean to be forced to play the abominable Ereck Flowers at left tackle full-time.
That sound you're hearing is the entire District of Columbia letting out a cathartic sigh.
The #Redskins are expected to sign former #Raiders LT Donald Penn, per @RapSheet. There’s the much needed help up front for Washington. With Trent Williams staying away, Ereck Flowers has been the one taking first team reps. That will likely change with Penn on board.

Penn is 36 years old and on the back stretch of his career, but he was a Pro Bowler as recently as two seasons ago as a member of the Raiders. Originally undrafted out of Utah State, the gigantic tackle has carved out a fine career for himself. He was only able to appear in four games last season, but that marked the first time in his dozen-year NFL career that he appeared in fewer than 14. This is smart money for the Skins any way you slice it.
