The Washington Redskins dug their feet in the ground and refused to trade left tackle Trent Williams after a fallout between him and the organization. After Williams didn't play the entire 2019 season, they are reversing course and will start shopping the former Pro Bowler.

According to ESPN's Dianna Russini, the Redskins have decided to allow Williams to seek a trade just months after insisting that they would hold onto him.

Williams was picked fourth overall in the 2010 draft out of Oklahoma, and he instantly became one of the better left tackles in all of football, making seven straight Pro Bowls from 2012-2018. Williams refused to play last season after the team told him he was cleared to play despite a cancerous growth on his head that he had removed.

Because Bruce Allen had no idea how to do his job, he refused to trade Williams for a premium pick last season, instead allowing him to sit out the entire year. Now, with no leverage, the Redskins might be forced to give up a premium player at a premium position for pennies on the dollar.

Williams has likely played his last down in Washington, but that doesn't mean that he'll have much trouble finding work. Expect a multitude of teams to call Washington and inquire about adding Williams via trade.
