VIDEO: Referee Stops Play at Oakland Coliseum to Warn Fans Against Using Laser Pointer
By Karl Rasmussen
The final Raiders game ever at the Coliseum was halted early on in the fourth quarter after some odd activity was noticed from the crowd. Of course it was! Officials stopped the game to address the crowd and request that fans cease their use of laser pointers, which were apparently spotted being shined onto the field.
It seems someone in the crowd at the final home game at the Coliseum was shining a laser pointer in the direction of players and coaches and caught the attention of the officiating crew.
The referee sounded incredibly irritated that he even had to be making such a demand to the fans, and it's hard to blame him.
Interestingly enough, this occurred while the Raiders were on offense. While it's unclear if this was the action of fans in the Black Hole, it's still pretty funny to imagine Oakland fans trying to distract their own team in the final game at the Coliseum.
We'll see if stadium security is able to track down whoever was using the device, as that fan could be looking at an early exit from the game.
