Relationship Between 49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo and Kyle Shanahan is Reportedly 'Not All Rosy'
By Jerry Trotta

In case you missed Monday night's clash between the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos, Jimmy Garoppolo's first outing since his torn ACL suffered 11 months ago was anything but appealing. Those numbers equate to a dreadful 0.0 passer rating.
The San Fran gunslinger completed one of six passes for zero yards and an ugly interception on his second pass of the game.
Fast forward a few days and a report has emerged that Jimmy G and head coach Kyle Shanahan don't necessarily flaunt a strong relationship.
Mort telling @ryenarussillo that it’s not all rosy with Jimmy G & Kyle. Safe to say the qb needs a solid night Saturday to quiet everything down

That's certainly not what you would hope to hear about the relationship between two of the organization's most important figures.
Dov Kleiman added to the potential controversy by delivering insight on the Garoppolo narrative. Virtually everybody fell in love with him after a few impressive cameos in a New England Patriots uniform and hot start as a 49er after he was traded to the team.
But let's be real. Garoppolo was far from a guaranteed success, and it looks as if the Niners may have rushed into that five-year deal. As Kleinman points out, perhaps the franchise tag would have been a better alternative.
I'm not sure there was ever an athlete who received more [money, fame, presumed ability] for less actual work on the field than Jimmy Garoppolo.

It seems Kyle Shanahan is starting to realize the [lack] of what he has with JG. Kyle did want to sign Cousins even after the JG trade https://t.co/AFz2Sax89w
Let's also not forget that Garoppolo threw FIVE straight interceptions at a practice last week. Is he not comprehending Shanahan's system? Is he just not good enough? Is Shanahan willing to cope with his apparent deficiencies?
Who knows. But it's definitely something to keep an eye on as we draw ever-closer to the regular season. Hopefully Jimmy G can bounce back and impress against the Chiefs on Saturday night and begin to work on restoring their reportedly less-than-ideal relationship.
