The Cleveland Indians had a magical 2016 season that ended with a thrilling Game 7 of the World Series in which they fell just short against the Chicago Cubs. That had expectations set high for the 2017 season, and with one spectacular run, the Tribe did not disappoint.

The team posted the best record in the American League at 102-60 thanks to an absolutely insane 22-game winning streak that spanned from August to September. This surpassed the 2002 Oakland A's magical 20-game run and passed the 1935 Chicago Cubs' mark of 21 games. The streak was capped off with a Jay Bruce walk-off double for win No 22.

The Indians outscored opposing teams 142-37 during the streak and rarely had a close game. Win No. 22 was one of the exceptions and only got to extra innings after Francisco Lindor hit a game-tying double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

A 4-3 defeat against the Kansas City Royals on September 15 brought the historic streak to an end, but not before history was made.

The 2017 season ended in disappointment with an ALDS loss to the New York Yankees, but the memories of the 22-game run will live on. Indians fans were collectively part of a rare event and can make an argument that it was the longest streak in MLB history -- the league says the 1916 New York Giants own the record at 26 games, but there was a tie mixed in there, to say nothing of the implications of the dead ball era. No one can take a single thing away from what the boys from The Land did over those few weeks.
