VIDEO: Celebrate the 2-Year Anniversary of the 'Rally Goose' Flying Into the Detroit Tigers' Scoreboard
By Scott Rogust
Let's face it, the Detroit Tigers haven't had too many fond memories since they were swept by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2014 AL Divisional Series. The team has since situated themselves in the basement of the AL Central division, leaving diehard fans with precious little in terms of great moments these past five seasons. Arguably their lone highlight came two years ago today, when a goose invaded Detroit's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The fowl flew across Comerica Park before reaching a screeching halt after crashing into the stadium's scoreboard.
That crash perfectly encapsulates the struggles of the Tigers organization.
After the goose took over the game, however, the Tigers caught on. They defeated the Angels 6-1 in the game, and went onto win the following three games. Tigers fans even named the bird the "Rally Goose." It was a fun few days, but Detroit crashed back to reality, as they finished the season with a 64-98 record.
Never forget when the Tigers had a glimmer of hope back in 2018, before the backhand of reality slapped them back down to Earth.
