Remembering Juan Soto's 'First' Career Moonshot 2 Years Ago Today to Crush the Yankees

Juan Soto was a star for the Washington Nationals the moment he arrived in town as a teenager. He also made a bit of history when it comes to the circumstances surrounding his first career home run.
That "first" dinger came before his May 18, 2018 major league debut by three whole days. Huh? Well, let's explain.
It was technically his sixth career home run chronologically, but it came in the resumption of a suspended game that began on May 15. The game was completed in June, but the stats still counted as having taken place on the original start date. As a result, he became a time traveler by hitting his "first" career home run before he ever stepped foot on an MLB field.

Two years ago today, World Series champion Juan Soto became a time traveler.@JuanSoto25_ // #NATITUDE pic.twitter.com/1vCDeuZDHq
Just another historic feet for the 21-year-old who is already a World Series champion. His "first" career home run was an absolute blast against the New York Yankees, and seeing that power from such a young player showed Nats fans they had someone special.

Soto had 22 home runs in 2018 and got his first while still technically in the minor leagues somehow. That is some next-level stuff from a player who proceeded to launch 34 home runs last season. He made his debut before he turned 20 and hit a home run before he technically made that debut at all. The sky is the limit for the kid -- but perhaps space-time isn't.
