VIDEO: Remembering When Gronk Crashed a Live White House Press Conference
By Scott Rogust
Ever since he was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2010, football fans quickly realized how eccentric of an individual Rob Gronkowski was. From his over-the-top touchdown celebrations, to his quirky press conferences, nothing is going to stop Gronk from having fun. Not even the seriousness of a White House visit in 2017 could prevent Gronkowski from crashing the party. And by party, we mean a press briefing held by then-White House press secretary Sean Spicer.
Gronkowski just wanted to see if Spicer needed some help fielding questions. Don't attack the guy! Plus, White House press conferences are notoriously tense, so the Patriots tight end was just trying to lighten the mood. He sure did that.
Oh, and Gronkowski got the chance to crash the Oval Office. Talk about making the most of a tour.
This visit was an important one for New England. Months prior, the Patriots overcame a 28-3 deficit in Super Bowl LI to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime to claim their fifth Lombardi Trophy. It was the greatest comeback in all of professional sports, and every single member of that Patriots team was on cloud nine.
But nobody, and we mean nobody, could match the giddiness of Gronkowski.
