REPORT: Jadeveon Clowney Trade Talks Between Texans and Seahawks Heating Up
By Jerry Trotta
It would appear it's a matter of when, not if, the Houston Texans will formulate a trade to offload disgruntled pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney.
The three-time Pro-Bowler is clamoring for a renewed contract extension, but, for reasons that we are having difficulty understanding, the Texans remain determined to nickel-and-dime him despite the elite production he's compiled over the last few campaigns.
It's obvious that Houston would like to get a deal done prior to the regular season's inception next week, and reports indicate that the Seattle Seahawks have emerged as a legitimate destination overnight.
There's no doubting that Clowney would be productive for virtually any team -- he's coming off 9 and 9.5-sack seasons alongside J.J. Watt -- but it's truly intriguing to picture what he could do in a Pete Carrol system.
Legion of Boom, have a gander at what the Seahawks front seven could look like if they acquired the South Carolina product.
If that world-beating potential doesn't get you amped, we don't know what will.
Of course, if Seattle were to trade for Clowney, they can't sign him to a multi-year contract. The organization would acquire his rights for one season at a franchise tender somewhere near $16 million.
As always, stay tuned for updates. The Hawks appear motivated to give this a real go.
