The Astros Proved They Were Disreputable Long Before Cheating Scandal With Roberto Osuna-Blue Jays Trade

We already know that blatant cheating and a comical amount of backtracking and lying are par for the course within the walls of the Houston Astros, but apparently domestic violence is at least tolerated if your play on the diamond is satisfactory.

The Astros proved that true when they traded for closer Roberto Osuna despite the fact the former Toronto Blue Jays closer was coming off of a 75-game domestic violence suspension.

As Brandon Taubman confirmed, the Astros were "so f***ing happy" they landed Osuna.

They sent struggling closer Ken Giles and flamethrower David Paulino to the Blue Jays in exchange for Osuna. Both Osuna and Giles have performed well in their new cities, as Osuna put up a 2.46 ERA and has saved 50 games with the Astros. Giles, meanwhile, is coming off of a year in which he posted a 1.87 ERA while saving 23 games.

Osuna's effectiveness has wilted in the postseason, however, as he has posted a 5.06 ERA in the playoffs as an Astro.

Osuna might be one of the best closers in the game, but his reprehensible off-field conduct and role on a team that knowingly broke the rules to win a few games has further sullied the reputation of the Astros around baseball.
