Now that legendary quarterback Tom Brady has shipped down to Florida to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the New England Patriots will try to continue their long run of success with a new quarterback under center. That has only ratcheted up the debate about who was more responsible for the Patriots dynast between Brady or head coach Bill Belichick, and on Wednesday, ESPN's "First Take" decided to ask an expert for his opinion. Loud and clear, former New York Jets and Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan expressed his belief that TB12 deserves far, far more credit than Belichick for the Patriots' long run of success.
Rex Ryan actually nailed it.

"It was definitely Tom Brady."
"I'll always point out, we shutout the Patriots when they never had Tom Brady, they were 3-0 at the time."
"Lets give Belichick Geno Smith and see."
"He never won in Cleveland."pic.twitter.com/g0ECAbYNa4
Ryan does bring up a valid point here: Back in 2016, the Pats went 3-0 to start the season with Brady unable to play due to his Deflategate suspension. In Week 4 of that season, Ryan's Bills shut out the Patriots 16-0 with Jimmy Garoppolo under center. In their second meeting with the Patriots, the Bills lost 41-25 with Brady on the field.
The braggadocious former head coach said that if he had Brady as his signal-caller, he'd have his own shelf filled with Lombardi Trophies.
Worth noting that Rex Ryan is right. He did shutout the #Patriots in Gillette in 2016 when Tom Brady didn't start.

He forgot to mention that when Brady returned, he put up 41 points on his #Bills team.
Ryan didn't downplay how good of a coach Belichick is, but he said he'd like to see him try to win with a quarterback like Geno Smith.
Geez, way to bring down a QB that you yourself drafted, Rex!
This debate will rage on for quite some time, but we won't even begin to get a definitive answer until the conclusion of the 2020 season. In the meantime, let the hot takes fly!
