Richard Sherman Downplays Magnitude of Return to Seattle Ahead of 49ers-Seahawks
By Michael Luciano
The San Francisco 49ers will head to the Pacific Northwest for a showdown with Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks in the biggest game on the planet this weekend. It also marks 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman's first game back and healthy in Seattle after he spurned his former employer of seven years for San Francisco.
Sherman isn't viewing this as a revenge game, and he isn't overly nostalgic about his time with the Seahawks either.
Sherman, who made his fifth Pro Bowl in his second season in former Seahawks assistant Robert Saleh's defense, has three interceptions on the campaign. There is a direct correlation between Sherman's return to form and San Francisco's defense emerging as one of the best in the league.
Sherman was dealing with an injury, but that shouldn't stop the adrenaline from flowing once he gets out on that CenturyLink Field grass as a member of the opposition.
As much as the normally outspoken Sherman would like to assert otherwise, this isn't a garden variety division game like he's trying to make it seem. This is a massive showdown that could determine home-field advantage in the NFC, and Sherman has the chance to relegate his former team to a Wild Card spot and take home a division crown. Get ready for this one.
