VIDEO: Richard Sherman Goes After Media and Steps up Fight Against NFL's Rooney Rule at Super Bowl Week
By Jerry Trotta

Let's just be straightforward: the NFL's Rooney Rule is an utter farce, and has done anything but serve its intended purpose. It was implemented as a precedent for teams with coaching vacancies to be required to interview at least one minority candidate. Since its inception, the Rooney Rule has actually been counterproductive in terms of endorsing the appointment of non-whites as head coaches. San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman addressed the evolving predicament on Thursday and declared that he is fed up with the media asking for the opinions of players, who have no say in firing or hiring proceedings.
“I almost say it’s your (media) fault that we don’t have those answers because none of you guys are asking (the owners) the hard questions.”

Richard Sherman says the media needs to put more pressure on the NFL owners to hire black coaches.

Sherman is renowned for his lack of filter at the podium, and while that sometimes leads to him catching a lot of flack, this particular harangue was right on the money.
Go after the owners. Make them feel pressure. Do your jobs.
As a black man, Sherman is obviously fed up with the dwindling number of black head coaches in the NFL. And though he'd love to change that narrative, there's simply nothing he can do about it.
It's a shame Eric Bienemy not getting any hype. Coach who did it the right way and has moved up the ranks. The Rooney Rule is a joke

The media should be, as the five-time Pro-Bowler asserts, pressuring front office executives by peppering them with questions on the matter. Sherman's answer is going to be the same every time, and we're not surprised he finally lost his cool here.
