Richard Sherman decided to keep things in-house and not use an agent when he signed a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers in 2018. That meant more money for him if he maximized all the earning potential in his contract.

One of the incentives was a $1 million Pro Bowl bonus. He was selected for the 2020 Pro Bowl and when the bonus triggered, he made sure to give his wife a shoutout for her help in the negotiations.

That is quite the incentive for a player capable of making the Pro Bowl any given season. His wife helped both of them out with the suggestion and the 49ers got a resurgent and happy Sherman in return.

As Sherman also mentioned, his base salary for 2020 is now fully guaranteed on Apr. 1 of 2020. Being his own agent seemed to work out well. Sherman bet on himself and is being rewarded thanks to his play on the field.

All the money he is saving on agent fees could build up into a small fortune.
